Brief Background

The AgResults Initiative is a $145 million multi-donor fund that uses results-based prize competitions to incentivize private actors to address agricultural market failures.

At CSA2019, AgResults will host an interactive workshop to guide participants in a high-level overview of how and when to use prize competitions to spur increased private sector participation in donor-funded initiatives.

Specifically, the side event will provide an overview of Pay-for-Results prize competitions, using a case study from Vietnam as a guide. Then, the workshop will help participants walk through initial steps to develop climate-smart prize competition concepts.

Session Objectives

Through this session we hope to increase awareness of the prize competition financing model to the wider development community as a potentially powerful tool to advance private-sector driven climate-smart agriculture solutions.

We also hope participants will come away with initial prize competition concepts that they will continue to explore as potential project ideas, with the possible support of AgResults.
