The challenge

The aim of this competition is to identify innovative infographics that communicate knowledge related to the transformation of food systems under climate change to a broad, non-scientist audience.

Infographics submitted must fall under one of the conference’s 6 themes:

  1. Strong farmer and consumer organizations and networking
  2. Digitally enabled climate-informed services
  3. Climate-resilient and low-emission practices and technologies
  4. Innovative finance to leverage private sector investments
  5. Reshaping supply chains, food retail, marking and procurement
  6. Gender equality, capacity and enabling policies and institution

Who can participate?

Anyone can participate. Joint applications by more than one person authoring an infographic are welcome.

The prize

A cash prize of USD 750 will be offered to the winner.

Please note: Select submissions tagged with the appropriate hashtag may be retweeted by CCAFS and partners, and will also be showcased at the conference.

Judging criteria

  • Usefulness: Easy to understand, clear purpose, reliable data (sources cited), informative – viewer learns something
  • Legibility: Easy to read, color scheme does not hinder readability, graphs/diagrams labeled appropriately; font choice, size and color support legibility
  • Design: Graphics reflect purpose and audience; graphics are good quality, not distracting and consistent; space is used effectively; appropriate use of contrast and color
  • Flow: Tells a story; easy to follow; overall design facilitates understanding; good hierarchy/organization of data

How to participate

Anyone may submit an infographic via Twitter with the tag #Design4CSA2019 and the handle @global_csa. Submissions that do not include both the hashtag and handle will not be considered. Direct messages will not be accepted.

All submissions should include an infographic fitting the challenge for the contest, as an attached image. Linked submissions will not be accepted.

Guidelines for submissions are as follow:

  • Select a topic relevant to the theme ‘Transforming food systems under a changing climate’ and focus on one of the 6 themes of the conference
  • Develop an infographic that is aesthetically pleasing, innovative, and informative with a clear message
  • All infographics should be in English
  • All artwork must be the submitter’s own

Timeline

The submission window is open and will close on 31 July 2019 23.59 CET.
Winners will be announced at the conference.
