Have an innovative business idea to transform food systems? Pitch your idea and win seed funding through our Compete2Innovate competition!

Innovative business models are key to rapidly scaling up climate-smart agriculture (CSA) innovations, and enabling millions of small-scale farmers to transform their livelihoods under climate change. The Compete2Innovate competition aims to identify innovative business ideas and provide a platform for their development at the 5th Global Science Conference on CSA.

What is Compete2Innovate?

Compete2Innovate aims to identify promising and innovative business ideas for climate-smart agriculture. Got one? Submit it to the contest! Your idea will be evaluated by a panel of international experts, and three finalists will be invited to pitch their idea at the conference. Costs of travel, registration and accommodation must be covered by the finalists.

Why participate?

Compete2Innovate is an excellent platform to develop your business ideas for climate-smart agriculture (CSA). You will have the opportunity to get feedback from scientists, policy makers and investors working on CSA. The winner will also receive a prize of USD 8,000 to implement their business idea.

Who can participate?

Compete2Innovate is open to anyone who wishes to implement a business idea for climate-smart agriculture. However, the contest is for new ideas, and the business idea you submit should not currently be in operation.

How to participate

1. Submit an elevator pitch of your idea in a video of no more than 1 minute.

Some points to keep in mind while pitching to our experts:

  • What is your business idea?
  • How does it relate to climate change adaptation, mitigation, and/or increasing productivity?
  • What is your unique selling point? E.g. how is your idea different and how can it achieve scale?
  • How is your idea viable as a business?

Timeline

Deadline extended: send your pitches by 31 July 2019. Finalists will be informed by mid-August 2019.
